About Velvet & Oz — and how we test

Velvet & Oz is an independent review site for adult products sold in Australia. We started it because most "best sex toy" lists are copy-pasted press releases. Ours aren't.

Our five test criteria

• Materials: body-safe only — medical-grade silicone, glass, or ABS. Anything porous or smelly is marked down or excluded.
• Noise: measured with a decibel app at 30 cm, on the highest setting.
• Waterproofing: checked against the manufacturer's IP rating in real use.
• Battery: timed from full charge to empty on a mid setting.
• App reliability: for connected toys, ten connect/disconnect cycles, noted failures.

Where a review says "hands-on notes to be added", the unit is on its way and the desk research is labelled as such. We never publish invented test data.
